My 37993 Big Boy has an issue. It will not move.
When I packed it up in the US it was working fine. Then it sat in boxes for a few years. Now when I start the loco, all the functions like sound, lights etc. work just fine but the loco just does not move. I don't even hear any humming from the motor (so it is not like some jamming issue). And opening up that loco is a very daunting task. I wouldn't even know where to start to check if some wire has come loose.
Any tips or pointers on how I can begin trouble shooting this?

Check the wires form the decoder to the motor,they are usually blue and green.You can find a similar topic to the forum about a BR10 37082.I hope you are so lucky as our friend Thom.

Hi!
Try pulling the front boogie. If it's lose its probably the screw connecting the boogie with the frame that's loose. If that's happened the cardan could have come loose and could jam the transition.

Hi Thom
To open the Big boy is rather simple
Big Boy.png
It all takes place in the red frames above:
* remove the decoration plastic part
* remove the screw

Then you have access to the motor.
Check if:
* the mechanism is seized
* the motor rotates freely
* no wires are cut

If for any reason you remove the motor, be sure, when placing it back that there is the same play on transmission rods on both sides.
Cheers
Jean

If that is the case I should hear the motor trying to hum or something. But there is no sound from the motor. I will check the wires first
