I recently bought a Märklin 3460, SBB 460 loco, used. The seller was not familiar with Märklin and did not have a box, so he did know the Märklin part #.
All he could see was a small number of the bottom of the loco, H3017146 (white on black tape).

Some of my other locos have similar numbers, what do they mean
