Yesterday I visited narrow rails (gauge 762 mm)for sugar manufacturing and transportation with my friend. Here are some picture i took for sharing with simple descriptions attached

Huwei sugar factory was built in 1907, which has been continuing operation since then. The sugar is made from sugar cane harvested from December to March of next year.

The next destination was Xizhou Sugar factory, which has not manufactured sugar for a long time and has been turned into a sightseeing location.

This train made by Hitachi is still in operation in a short route for sightseeing

Thank you Hsin for your story.

The trains are almost the same as the sugar can trains used widely in Queensland.
I have friends who specialize in following these train systems here.

regards
Kimball
HO Scale - Märklin (ep II-III and VI, C Track, digital) - 2 rail HO (Queensland Australia, UK, USA) - 3 rail OO (English Hornby Dublo) - old clockwork O gauge - Live Steam 90mm (3.1/2 inch) gauge.

Before 70s, over 3000km narrow gauge railroad spread out the plain of Taiwan, but the rail was successively dismantled since then. This is the last route remaining to operate.

Sugar train railroad is closer to people than standard gauge as result of slow train speed, lower clearance , easier to access it due to no barrier between rail and people. It provided the public transportation at the era on which the private cars and buses were not common.

Thank you for taking the time to share these pictures and the story.

Most of us cannot travel anymore, and so seeing a window like this into another world is a real treat. I love narrow gauge lines like this.

Sugar cane tramways have been a favourite of mine for many years.

I well remember tracing some of those lines in Fiji in the early 80's but sadly they are all gone now.

Now I find solace in the Qld cane tramways which are very extensive.

I came across this website some time ago but it is current and gives some pointers to where to go and view the operations:
