Hi All, I got my Ruhr Express set out & immediately ran into an issue. This may or may not have been discussed previously. I was hoping to use address 78 as originally given to the loco & the 3rd class wagon with sound effects namely conductors whistle F3 & tail lights on / off F1. I was hoping to operate all this just on one address on my ESU Ecos 50200. Alas this is not to be. Address 78 appears to be dead on the #42109 3rd class coach. So I changed it to address 79 & we get it to work stand alone. Somewhere I read F2 was opening & closing of doors but I don't appear to have that function. So back to the drawing board I set loco to address 79. The loco works but now the wagon won't. I have to have two separate pages open on the Ecos to get it all to work. Does anybody know the solution to this riddle or have misunderstood it all together?

Thanks Dave...

I think this coach will be old enough to have the decoder address to be in the auxillary devices address space like the King Wilhelm coaches, the 49960 Messwagon, and the original 4998 and 4999 digital coaches. This would allow it to (appear to) operate on the loco address (the King Wilhelm set does this) on the Marklin 6021 controller (and probably a cs2 or cs3). I don't know how an EcOS handles this situation.

Hello Alan, yes you are correct in saying that. It mentions very clearly in the pamphlet that it can be operated in that manner with the Marklin #6021 controller. So my only option was to download the coach Icon & have a separate page for it next to the screen of the loco. This will work. The coach has the piano key "6090" type decoder whereas the loco has an ESU Lokpilot type of decoder. Its such a pity I could not get it to work in conjunction with the loco on the same page. Many thanks for your input.

I don’t think 43109 has sound effects. Only lighting.

Have you tried to run it as a consist., seeing the loco decoder is ESU and both run on the motorola mode I can't see it, not working on the same page, all you have to look out for that the Aux functions do not interfere with the lokpilot or Märklin decoder.

Hello John, good Idea. I will try work on that one. But on the ecos i have the two screens next to each other so no big deal. The coach operates F1 =Tail Light & F2 - zip F3 = Conductors whistle.
The loco only has Light on / off shunting Etc function. Its got me stumped though why address 78 on the coach is dead but address 79 operates.

Hi Dave(s),

The point isn't about sound but how to set up a consist with different decoder protocols and control only the required functions. It does require the user to have a good knowledge of their equipment.

Hello Ross, yes you are correct. I just have to learn how to apply this application to my ESU Ecos 50200 & all will be well. I will follow that link you gave me.
