I am planning to add catenary to a short “museum railroad” on my larger layout. It uses all M track and some equipment I got as a Christmas present in 1957!

I know that the masts and mast bases are different. I can buy these on eBay.

But what about the wire segments, curved, straight switch.

Can I use new elements, or must I find old ones?

If it's to be a museum railroad then you'll want it as authentic as possible, to the era.

The original catenary items, masts, spans etc are not at all hard to find so I would go with that, you'll often find new-old-stock or unused surplus that people are selling, someone here may even have some for sale.

Work out what sections you need and post a list.

Remember that if you have a double slip, or crossing, try to start with that because they can be hardest to make fit if you already have the other sections in place. But there are adjustable sections to make up for various gap lengths.

Here are your available components from the 1957 catalogue...

Hope it helps
