Hi all

I have programmed an exit signal start for the Borsig, and I hope you enjoy the video below :

Previously, I have had the start up routine for the Borsig programmed as a Memory Event on my CS2, triggered by a s88 feedback module.
I wanted to add an appropriate exit signal to make it more realistic.

In the video, you can watch closely how the exit signal light changes, the Borsig switches on lights and sound and smoke, then the signal changes again, and then the Borsig is ready to move out of the siding. This is of course now all triggered by an s88 feedback event.

Up until now, the problem for me has been that I have had an appropriate digital exit Signal from a different model manufacturer but I have not known how to programme the Signal address with my CS2. The digital signal address assigned previously was conflicting with another solenoid accessory on my layout, so I had left the signal on my workbench. Lockdown has provided me with an opportunity to work out how to programme the signal address using my CS2.
Now I know how to do it, and I think it looks great on the layout.

Looks good but I am wondering why you switch from Hp00 to Sh1 and then Hp1 ?

Hello Dale,

You encouraged me to look up the exit signal colours and their meaning !

Hp00 = Stop all trains
Hp0/Sh1 = Stop for trains, shunting allowed
Hp2 = Proceed Slowly
Hp1 = Proceed, line clear.

Exit Signal Description

Would you have gone from Hp00 directly to Hp1 ?

Anyway, if I didn't get it perfect, it's quite fun and probably quite unusual to see the signal change like this on a model layout.

Well, the BR 53 is sitting on a siding so you could argue that it is shunting.....

I'm using a CS2 with Viessman signals (I know Dale also uses Viessmann signals). There seems to be some sort of bug in the CS2 software that gets the signal sequence wrong when using Viessmann signals - what should be Hp1 on the CS2 shows as Hp2 on the signal, and what should be Hp2 shows as Hp1. It doesn't matter what type of Viessmann signal module you use, its the same with all of them.

If I hook my Ecos up to the signals, that's fine and everything displays as it should. I wonder what the CS3 does.....

yes, if the train is departing and going on the mainline, Hp1 or Hp2 would be used.
If the loco was just doing a shunting move, beyond the signal but withing the shunting limits of the station, Sh1 would be used.

http://sh1.org/eisenbahn/index.htm is a wonderful resource on German signals.
