Hi everybody!

First of all, I hope all of you would be very good.

Now, let me do a question. I hope someone could help me.

I have just had a diesel locomotive with a sound decoder. A DB V 200 diesel locomotive. It has the following sounds (between others):
- Operating sounds
- Blower
- Compressor
- Letting off compressed air
- Squealing brakes on and off
- Conductor whistle

My problem is that I do not know when I must use these sounds in a real mode. If when starting the diesel motor; when it begins tu run, during the run, when it is braking, and so on.

I suppose, for example, that the operating sounds sould be on when the locomotive is running. But, when I switch on the blower? And when is the compressed air letting off? Which does it mean the squealing brakes on and off? And so on with all the sounds.

I would be very pleased if someone could help me about when it should be every sound switch on and off.

Thank you very much in advance. And for everybody, the most of the health! Be care of yourselves!

Hi Francisco

I am far from being an expert but here is how I use these sounds with my mSD2 and mSD3 decoders
- Operating sounds : at all times except when in the shed or the garage
- headlights: at all times except when in the shed or the garage (could be on only during the night time)
- Blower:
- Compressor: random during operation
- Letting off compressed air: random during operation of manual
- Squealing brakes on and off: automatic by the decoder when the speed is sharply reduced
- Conductor whistle : manual just before departure at the station
- short whistle: when changing direction (not all decoders allow this.
Cheers
Jean

Well, a real engine driver learns this all, while he is doing his driving license for railway trains.BigGrin
