Hi you all,

I won a marklin in the 70 from my dad, I gave to my son another marklin, the differences are the material of the rails, the 70s are metal, and the new one are in plastic. I was in Germany in 2016, and I bought just only 2 pieces for the compatible rails! Do you know where can I find these rails in São Paulo/Brazil?

Welcome :-)

The earlier track you refer to is called 'M' track (for 'Metall')

The newer plastic track is called 'C' track, C often referred to as 'Click' for how easy it is to connect

There is an adapter section to join M and C together, I think this must be what you are referring to.

I cannot help you with any shops in your region or Country but someone else will have some recommendations I'm sure.

Used track is also readily available on ebay. Used M track should not cost you more than $1 per piece, but Turnouts (Switches/Points) are more expensive. Used C track a little more expensive but be careful, there was a period of poor manufacture and the plastic is very brittle and breaks off too easily

Did you also get a catalogue or any booklet from your Father with the 1970's pieces?

Put up some photos if you can, we love to see photos :-)

Hi Steve,

Yes, I was referring to.Well, I m waintig for some information about that. And I found some tracks on the ebay, but that ones are confiable?

Unfortunately, I'm lost the catalogue about the trains in the 70's.

I will setup the tracks, and after post the photos, for these moment without the 70´s loco, cause the newer is digital, and I dont know how to run alnd older and newer together.

regards

You can download many of the Marklin catalogues and books here....

http://www.lctm.info/Secciones/Trenes/Biblioteca/

Most of them are in English, but with a few other languages also.

You can run a newer Digital Loco from a normal Transformer, but if it is Blue, make sure the case is Plastic. Older Blue trafos with Metal case can be dangerous.

But you cannot control an older 'Analogue' (non-digital) Loco from a Digital controller.

The C to M track connector piece is item number 24951. You should be able to get them from any local Marklin dealer or off ebay.

Hello Christian.
Welcome to the forum!

You could start here for some pieces:

https://www.riograndemodelismo.com.br/
https://www.jorgetrens.net.br/

Unfortunately Märklin in Brazil is quite expensive. JorgeTrens have a lot of tracks on his MercadoLivre portal/shop.

My layout is based on C track, but I think I have some M tracks... I'll check...

As Steve said, send us some photos. Yes, we love them. Drool

Cheers,

Walter

Hi everybody,

fisrt of all, tks for the explanations Steve.
so, I try to use the conector form C to M, and I setup the track with these tracks together, but when the digital loco arrived to the M track , its stopped, like was not energized. Do you think I need turn on
the old traffo for the M track, so then the loco be able to run in the mixed tracks? with two traffos, the old n the digital together. this weekend I will try to use the older loco and set separete, and together, then I will take some photos and post here.

tks bigdaddy...I have 3 peaces from this connector, and I will buy another to setup a big old n new track mixed.

walter, obrigado pelas informações, dei uma olhada superficial, mas esses dois sites apresentam outras marcas de trenzinhos, nao do marklin, é isso mesmo? abs

NO NO NO do not do that. You will destroy the output stages of the digital controller. Only use one type of controller at a time.

This sounds like your M track needs cleaning to get rid of dirt from the rails. A wipe down with some old denim cloth should work wonders here.

As Alan said, you should be able to simply connect your M & C tracks together and run the Loco.

If you can, try using a 12v lamp or a meter if you have one to check voltage on the M rails

Never mix analogue and digital control on the same track. That would be... Bad
