First, how are you all doing? Hope all of you are staying home and keeping yourself safe.

My question might come as naive to most of you.

I am into steam engines and have few steam engines both in HO and N gauge with me. But when I was a kid the diesel transformation already took place. I only remember vaguely travelling in a steam engine train when I was a kid.

What I am keen to know is, how does the steam engine operations go. I mean how do you prototypically operate a steam engine. Is there a website or video you could refer to ?
I wish to know the stems involved in starting a steam engine. What does one has to do when it is approaching a station? How do you stop it ? My steam engine has lot of sound functions, so which one for what time etc is what I am keen on understanding.
