Hello I received a Swiss Engine 3739 from a friend for a service. And as it goes forward it has 2 lights in front (1 bottom and 1 top) and 3 at he the back at the same time. They changes as it revers. Is this all right? Cheers.

I apologize in advance that the picture is not clear but it will give you an idea what that loco requires to have two lights lit forward & one in the back travelling in forward direction: [img] [/img] [img] [/img] |

Hi. First looks like gray was swapped wit yellow. I returned them and now as it goes forward it looks like this Forward is on the right. All 3 are flashing and at the rear one bulb only which should be bottom right. Unfortuantelly light is transmitted to top as well. I think "light wires" ( what is the right word?) are not working correctly. Am I right? Why is it?

Does the loco have the little black paper "shades" inserts between the front of the body and the light tubes? I'll take a picture tomorrow to show you what it should look like. On the other hand , the "blinking" is probably due to the decoder Not sure 100% (it's been too long... ) , but if I remember right, some older generation decoders using the loco's chassis as return where exhibiting this "pulsation" . Jacques that loco has the orange wire meaning electronic ground & should not flicker or pulse. Just checked mine & all good. Paper shades a must to get the three headlights. |

No we are referring to the body ends. They have paper shades placed in between the plastic light diffuser. Can you take a photo of that at each end please. |

You are missing the paper shades hence your seeing all lights on at once. [img] [/img] [img] [/img] [img] [/img] [img] [/img] [img] [/img] |

Great pictures, thanks!! I will work on new separator tonight. I'm just thinking what to use? Will thick paper be temperature resistant to a bulb?

Thanks Dave, you've been faster ...taking advantage of your earlier time zone!!! Yes, just black cardboard /bristol paper will do . |

Did you check to see whether the cardboard insert fell out when the locomotive was opened?" That happened to me when I first opened by 3638.

The 6090 does not have a rectified (+), and the light bulbs are wired to ground. This may cause flicker. Yes, the wires are orange, but they are connected to the 62255 lead with the ground screw, and, if I see correctly, a brown wire, probably to the wheels. For the electronics savvy, there are ways to add an orange (+) lead to the 6090 http://www.hanno-b.de/index.php?id=43 |

Unless you do the decoder surgery as in the link above, or have a spare 60902 (or newer) for exchange. Both would also require a bit of rewire of the orange leads to the 62255 - happy to post the scheme if required |
