For the photographers amongst us it's time to put your critical eye on my picture below. What did I miss?

Hello Antonio,

Happy New Year!!!

Yes, the front pantograph is lower than the rear! They are both fully extended but the front pantograph opens lower than the rear pantograph. I though that this was an optical illusion but it's not. I never realized this until I took this picture yesterday.

This is my first ever picture using the photo stacking feature of my camera. The camera takes a set of picture, 10 in my case with different focus distances and then you combine them on the computer to have a picture with greater (DOF) depth of field. Hence the clarity of the whole train.

One thing I have to learn is how to scale the picture for sharpness since I resized this picture it does not look as sharp and focused as the original.

If you click on the picture you will see it at 23 percent of original.

I would have said that they are the wrong (not factory original) pantographs.

I hope they are factory pantographs, that's how it came from Märklin!

Hi Michel, I guess they could be, I am not used to seeing that style, I would have to look at Koll's to see if there is a pantograph variance - I could very well be wrong.

Nice depth of field in the photo. Looks like you achieved your goal.

I wouldn't worry about one pantograph being lower. The catenary wire will keep the pantograph at the right level.

One note if you didn't know, usually only the rear pantograph is up in operation. Using the rear, if there is a problem and it gets ripped off, then the debris won't damage the second pantograph.
