Hi. I'm not in to trains but my son whose 4 had been given a Marklin farm setup. Looks like a first train type affair.

Rather than lose bits all round the house I'd like to permanently got the track and buildings to a piece of wood.

Could anyone offer any advice on how to do this? Eg type of wood, glue or screw the track?

Obviously not looking to spend a lot of money. Just trying to avoid losing bits and giving my son some use of the train.

Thanks in advance

On a wooden board (plywood 10-12 mm or something similar) the strip can be fastened with small screws or glued with hot dots (which can be easily removed later)

The 80-90 x 140-150 cm size does not require any special reinforcement, while the larger top should have a bezel frame below
(It is important that the board does not bend too much)

Thanks very much for this!

That layout looks really good. Would you have a layout map for it?

I'm trying with the set that I have, which looks the same as yours and I'm just not getting things quite right..

This was done a long time ago to show the initial layouts for Backo mini express layouts.
I don't have a plan because it's pretty simple.

So almost all of us start with something small and then something new is added. When everything doesn't fit on the board we move on to a new bigger one.
Enjoy it with your kids!

Your start set should have had a booklet like the one I have attached here ...

Start Up C Track Plans Booklet.pdf (7,746kb) downloaded 48 time(s).

This should give you all the information you need.

I have a large layout and I hold track in place using Copydex glue. All you need is a little on part of every third or fourth track away from points which you may wish to lift at times. Although Copydex holds the track in place you can remove the track easily as it is not permanent hold. Lay cork sheets or similar on the wood to avoid unnecessary noise when running trains.
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.
