I needed a variable AC supply to test the operation of a current transformer on a set of PCBs that needed testing.

So what better than a Marklin transformer with a load resistor ???

With a suitable number of turns through the current sense coil (underneath the PCB) the middle of the three LEDs at the bottom right is green.

By dropping the current slightly (as seen on the meter, the difference feels like stepping one turn on the transformer when turning the knob) the undercurrent sense circuit turns the middle LED orange.
