This may be a duplicate. If do I am sorry.

I need help in identifying a Marklin, DB restaurant car

At a garage sale of “old” trains I bought a Marklin, DB restaurant car, no box. I cannot seem to identify >>exactly<< the model number as they are several similar models.

Facts:

• The underbody is marked, “Marklin, Made in West Germany”
• It is grey with a wide, red window stripe and a narrow, light purple stripe under the window stripe. These run the length of the car.
• Roof is smooth and the same grey as the body and it looks like the roof is part of the car’s mold.
• It has a black pantograph and a gray equipment box next to the pantograph.
• It is marked as 61 80 88-90, WRmz, DB, and the word Restaurant in a red, italic font.
• It has one spot for a destination sign at the door end of the car on both sides.
• It has light brown interior furniture and partitions around the kitchen.
• The kitchen windows are blanked in light brown
• It is >>similar<< to Marklin 43308, 42971 and a Roco 44757. But not identical.

Can anyone help?

Some photos would be the very best thing you can offer us because things like the trucks, couplings, the wheels etc all make a difference.

And possibly most importantly, is it a plastic body or tinplate? if you say the roof appears to be part of the mold then that would imply plastic, and that helps narrow it considerably

Having a pantograph also helps narrow it down.

With nothing else to go on, I'm leaning towards 4284 ? but that's just a guess on initial hits.

So photos really will save us a lot of time and guesswork BigGrin

Providing the complete number might help. A model photo might help if it shows the bogies, the couplers, the coupler mounts and such.

But maybe Märklin 4284 is the answer.
