This is a really interesting concept and applaud Faller for trying this out.

Looks like you can now design your own houses (max size 20x20x20 cm) and Faller will 3D print them? and ship to you. Wouldn’t it be quite unique to have you very own house? Imagine building the house you grew up in BigGrin

Not sure how sophisticated the software is and how many options you have in designing...

Nice. And its cheaper than buying your own 3D printer... though the pricing will have to be evaluated. The design is the more expensive step, so if we do that ourselves, and they only guarantee a good print, this would make things interesting so long as 5 prints doesn't equate to the cost of a modern 3D printer.

ARgh... seems like a nonstarter for non EU members - the only countries one can select as one's address are EU countries. Grrrrr.

Psst. Don't let the UK Remainers know or they will adduce this as another argument against Brexit.Smile

Got an official response from Faller today:
Quote:

Quote:
As you have already recognized, shipping is currently restricted to the EU . That will certainly stay that way for a while. However, if you have acquaintances within the EU, you can of course have the house delivered there.

Hi Minok,

You could try one of the numerous mail forwarding companies:

I have been using a NZ postal forwarding company from US a numbers of time without any issues.

Thanks. Yeah, there are ways to still make use of it. I've got it easier still, as I've got friends and family in Germany and I could just have it shipped to them, then they forward it to me. But that makes it all way more expensive than it should be because:
1) I'm needlessly paying 19% VAT when the destination is the US. The amounts don't rise to the level to file a reclaiming of the VAT I think.
2) The additional shipment adds still more costs vs Faller just shipping the thing as an EU export.

I suspect Faller just don't want to deal with the complications of out-of-EU shipping (not sure what the business processes are in terms of having to create/pack the customs forms etc, vs the business they see getting from the service.

The problem with forwarding companies like U-shop in NZ is that they are not recognized [ as yet ] as exporting companies in countries of origin, so tax has still to be paid to say UK or Germany, then they then add on extra gst tax when parcel arrives in NZ. I stopped using them some time ago because of the no tax rebate in country of origin. It actually cost less when I got my parcels of Bike bits sent directly from suppliers in England. We used to be able to import parcels of value under $400.00 NZ without inuring the GST [ Goods and Services Tax or VAT ]. Now the government has insisted U-shop and probably Ebay etc, collect the tax for them. I wrote to U-shop about it years ago but apparently its not their problem.
