Has anybody experienced the failure of the conventional reverse unit on the 35xx class C steam locomotives? The relay buzzes, not what should be a single click when the reverse voltage is applied, the lights change direction, the locomotive does not run. I have disconnected the motor and run it free from the locomotive. The motor runs perfectly. What component has failed? Any answers please?

Hi

IMO it is a 5 star model running on AC with an electronic inverting unit so the inverter is possibly failing
Cheers

If a component is fried on the electronic board, you can try to replace it, or upgrade the locomotive to digital.
The board in your 3514, should look like this:

If you decide to upgrade it to digital, you might find this pcb useful.

Hi,

in some cases it helps to shake the locomotive to make the relay work again. Worth a try.

Regards

Hi Markus
Giving the relay a few good taps did noy help. I think the best solution now is to get Luessi PCB anf fit a Marklin decoder
