Thinking of buying a steamer G 5/5 .. Marklin 39550. Think it was made around 2015 and just wondering if anybody has one and if it is a good runner and worth buying.
Thanks for any comments on the model. |

Thanks for replies and videos. Lippe have the sound model for 299 Euros ( also 4% will go to the bonus account) I also have a lot of cash lying in my bonus account so will get it for around 230 Euros. I already have some of the wagons which will go with it but was just wondering what it was like as it is a few years old now and maybe was not popular for some reason but it looks fine.

Thanks for any comments on the model. Even I do not own it, I think it is always a very good choice. Greetings from Bavaria TEEWolf P.S.: 39550 with mfx+ decoder as of Märklin's website 39551 with mfx decoder as of Märklin's website

I recently purchased this and love it. Be aware that you are paying for the mfx+ features which are well worth it if you can take advantage of them.

I have the 39550, it is a great Loco and runs really well with nice sound effects. However, in my opinion it’s Achilles heal is very fragile loose fitted front handrails and steps at the front of the loco. These are only lightly push-fitted into the loco body and also have a fine sleeve over the wire where it enters the loco casting. My first loco has to be returned as some of this was detached and missing, my replacement is better, but just requires very careful handling, unlike most other Marklin steamers. I did a review of this loco, being the 39555 variant. Class 57Kimball |

Yes, I noticed the fragility of these handrails before I even opened the box. Very careful handling is certainly called for. Jabez |
