Hi,

Yesterday UP Big Boy 4014 got some steam for the first time in almost 60 years. They tested the wistle and boiler pressure!!! Restoration is almost done. I like to see such a big engine running!!!

Regards

Eduardo

Yeah, if it wasn't a 13 hr drive one way just to get to the Utah end of the planned run I might have made a drive to see it running along the way.

Excellent, Thanks for the link.

I hope Marklin reissue Big Boy 4014.

Knowing their tendency to commemorate certain events and locomotives, I would be surprised if they didn't. BTW: Still not sure if I'm going to head off to Utah next week to monitor its progress toward Ogden... then again, I have been know to do things on the spur of the moment!

Indeed - I'm doing the calculus of the 12-14 hrs of driving to get there, and required drive back, so its a good 3-4 days to do that and film it. Knowing there will surely be a lot of steam youtubers filming and posting, I'll be good just watching it on YouTube after the fact. But the weather presently is very nice...

Actually, Marklin already issued the Big Boy 4014 in weathered livery. It is model 37995. But since the new restored 4014 is an oil burner, a new model should come with this change.

I didn't know that facebook group – I was referring to information from Union Pacific itself; in today's update they wrote:
"Union Pacific Steam Club Update No. 7 - May 3, 2019
UP Steam

If you don't already know by now, the Big Boy No. 4014 left the Union Pacific Steam Shop on its own power May 1, and has been undergoing last-minute road testing before its big christening event at 9:30 a.m. MT May 4. After the champagne bottle breaks, No. 4014 and the Living Legend No. 844 will double-head on a short whistle-stop tour to Ogden, Utah, where they'll meet nose-to-nose during Union Pacific's Golden Spike celebration at 10 a.m. MT May 9.

Can't make it to Ogden for the big events May 9? That's OK, we've got you covered.

Union Pacific will be streaming May 9 ceremonies live via the UP Facebook page, located at http://www.facebook.com/unionpacific . If you haven't already "liked" our Facebook page, do it today. You'll be notified as soon as the cameras start rolling.

May 9 10 am MT... Marklin is live broadcasting summer new items exactly same time. I bet this is not a coincidence.
