Hi - I’m in Hamburg for a few days and wouldn’t mind finding some good used Marklin dealers in Hamburg. I can find sellers of new Marklin easily via the web, but I’m not having much luck locating good used re-sellers. I’m particularly after items less than 20 years old (era 4,5,6). Does anyone have any recommendations?? Thanks, Marcus

You could try Modellbahnkiste or Uwe Hesse. My recommendation would be to visit Miniatur Wunderland and ask one of the local (staff) for recommendations.

BTW See what comes up when you google Gebrauchte Modelleisenbahnen Hamburg.

Thanks Mike... OK so as a resource for future visitiors to Hamburg seeking Marklin...

1) Uwe Hesse - https://www.hesse-hamburg.de - Nice clean store. Good selection of roco, faller, noch, herpa etc. Only started stocking Marklin in the last year of 2. Had about 10 locos and 15 pieces of rolling stock. Only sells new Marklin. Worth a visit.

2) Marklin Store Hamburg (on Beethovenstraße 64)... this is actually another shop front for MMC.. (https://meisesmobacenter.de/shopIII/de/). MMC’s ‘real’ shop is about 40km out of the city which is a 70eu taxi ride. This store is awesome... has everything Marklin... They will take off VAT and ship home no probs.

3) https://www.zuegeundmehr.de/index.php/de/ This is a great little store with lots of selection of all things trains... Good Märklin selection. But also lots of modelling items from heki, Busch etc... I picked up some really high quality Grafitti stickers here... In terms of Marklin - sellls new not used.

4) Modellbahnkiste - ok, so if you are a non-smoker take an oxygen bottle with you... A really cool little store that specialised in USED. Lots of stuff - all brands and odd bits - drawers and cupboards full of cars, signals, tracks, trucks, wagons...either a treasure trove or not.. dependent on what you are after. In terms of Marklin, all 1970’s to 1990s... Prices seemed at the lower end of eBay (so reasonable). Didn’t seem to be the sort of place that would gravitate towards buying and stocking lots of era 5/6.

Overall, with the exception of MMC (and Wonderland of course!) Hamburg was a bit disappointing. Hard to buy items with small dealers that wont take off VAT when you aren’t posting it (so then it becomes a postage vs tax trade off).

Hope that helps anyone travelling to Hamburg....
