Hi everyone.
I'm sure someone from this forum has been to Thirlmere for the Festival of Steam.
The Festival is on this weekend -2nd, 3rd March 2019.
I'll be going on Saturday I hope. It's a four hour round trip from where I live but I think it'll be worthwhile.
There are five steam locomotives operating over the weekend.
Here is a link to it:

Let me know if anyone is going and we can catch up.

It's been 18 months since I was able to catch up with some forum members at Marklin Tage 2017 in Göppingen.
I was thrilled to see myself and my partner in the photo on the back page of the 2019 New Items Catalogue! I'm carrying a red and black backpack and Lisa is wearing a distinctive green raincoat standing in front of the mighty 241-A-65
Cheers
John

The Festival was great. Not only 5 engines under steam but a number of steam tractors were out and about. The museum itself is much larger than expected and we ran out of time and couldn't see it all. It's not as big as Mulhouse in France of course but it does have the largest collection of rolling stock in Australia.
One of the engines there was a 19 class engine built in the 1880s but still being used into the 1960s. There was a great video next to it being played on loop which showed the history of it in relation to the Darling Harbour (Sydney) goods yard - in it's day the largest in Australia.
The video is less than 20 minutes and really worth a look.
