I just acquired a Roco 79653. It is very beautiful with lots of details. I am using a MS2. It shows DCC after it found the lok and displays F0 to F4. F0 = headlight. F1 = high beam. F4 = turtle. What are F2 and F3 ? The manual doesn't include any control instruction.

Thank you.

DCC protocol does not have two way communication, so all the function keys are listed even if they don't do anything.

MFX (and DCC railcom) have two way communication which is why MFX locos show the available functions with appropriate icons - information stored in the decoder and sent to the controller.

F3 typically activates shunting mode (reduced maximum speed).

Thank you for your replies.

The Operating Manual that came with the lok has no information on digital operation. I went to Roco's website and found a page for the 79653. I downloaded the decoder instruction from that page. It says F2 = AUX2 and F3 = AUX3. The webpage for this lok doesn't mention any auxiliary functions so I'll just leave them alone.
