Hi

I just downloaded the CS2 Update 4.2.8 (4) and this thread is about sharing the identified new functionalities.
I hope my forum friends will find loads of new things (more than I have BigGrin ).
What I have found (not much sorry)

A new staging yard functionality: it designs them for you with dialogue for points and signals

A new line section assistant (entry signal, exit signal, sensors

A new function to insert the image of any loco in the layout (I must say I haven't found the principle. I checked if it was some sort of location assignment of locos (like on train s/w) but I couldn't find the purpose. (it is not in the help screen)

"World of operation" is now available for any loco with any decoder- the restriction is there is no consummable management and you may choose for the loco the appropriate or closest driving environment

Probably you will find much more than this

Cheers

Jean

It may be of assistence if a collegue could translate ...

Essentially

"B" is a block section and you must drag an area that is only one cell wide and a minim of 6 cells long (either vertically or horizontally)
"S" is a staging/Schattenbahnhof and you must drag at an area at least 2 wide (i.e. number of roads)

One website said the changes are:

1. Extension of the possibility with appropriate locomotive decoders to switch up to 32 functions instead of 16 functions so far.
2. Complement the Spielewelt Mode with new driver's guides.
3. Aligning certain operating behavior with the processes at CS 3.

B is a Block section and on the screen you must define a rectangular zone of 1 by X (any length) or X by 1 to define an horizontal or vertical block

S is a staging yard and on the screen you must define a rectangular zone of X (length) by Y (number of tracks)
The points, signals, sensors are proposed (must correct their addresses) and the functioning is either FIFO or random

Sie muessen einen (rechteckigen) Bereich fuer "the block section" auswaehlen:
You have to select a (rectangular) area for the block section.

You have to select a larger area for the shadow station.

You have to select a block section area with a height of 1 and a width of 5 or more [units] or alternatively with a width of 1 and a height of 5 or more [units].

Those comments relate to the earlier v4.2 (4.2.2) - The CS2 has had support for 32 functions for over a year.

For this recent update v4.2.8 a changelog for 4.2.7 is seen.
Googly translation really struggles with this , so again I ask for some translation

- Bug Fix: Korrektur Drehscheibenassistent.

Hello,

Translation provided by DeepL:

GUI version 4.2.7 (from autumn 2018)
- For each locomotive, no matter which decoder or protocol, the game world can be used. Since a non game world decoder does not calculate the consumption, it is deactivated for these locomotives. Refuelling and fuel consumption display is therefore not possible.
- Bug Fix: Correction turntable assistant. A placement close to the edge is now possible.
- Register newer decoders. When registering new decoders, these were accidentally interpreted as game world decoders and treated incorrectly. The login has been adapted to the more robust procedure of CS3, new decoder generations are now correctly logged in.

A German speaker may validate if translation is correct.

Cheers
Fabrice

This Block/Staging function set (and the loco image) has got to be a Beta that leaked out.

Aside from the lack of English in the messages, the icons are too easily corrupted and the sensors have the same 1024 limitation for L88s.

I am guessing this has something to do with the braking or block macro.

Even though nobody asked for a translation this time, I allowed myself to carry on:

Im markierten Bereich befinden sich Elemente fuer Automatik-Steuerung. Sollen diese entfernt werden?

Hi guys Cool

During the update 4.2.8 which was done twice and followed by a restart of the cs2, at one point 5, if my memories are good in point 5, I saw USB Import.

To complete the update, does this mean that I need to connect a USB key to the cs2?

Thank you

Hi

No an online update does not need any USB update.

Thank you Cool

But I did something this morning: the update was deemed a success yesterday (the message on the cs2 showed this).

This morning I made an attempt to update to see what.

Point 5 of yesterday's update has restarted, as if the update had not been completed.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thewolf

Could it be that No. 5 is the "Evergreen" update? As the name implies (at least to those with a good German knowledge), it is executed every time and tries to upload new loco images from the USB stick.

Ignore this feature of Märklin's clear-as-mud UI design.

Tom
