The link above isn't correct, I think you meant this one: mdecoder programming

Thanks for the video. Cheers,

Hello Harold

You are absolutely correct !
The link which I posted was another Swiss Railways Cab ride which I had been watching. !
The link which you have posted is the correct link.

How did you manage to find the correct link ?

I searched for mdecoder in YouTube and saw your name associated with the video.

Good video! How long does it take to update a decoder via the CS and programming track? Do you have the decoder tool that plugs into the computer as well? I understand putting the decoder on the computer tool allows much faster updates.

Cheers,

Harold.

Hello Harold

I have 60215 Central Station 2 with the loco on the programming track.
It takes probably 45 mins for the Sound to be updated in the loco.
That's no problem for me, I can set it to run while I get on with other things.

I don't have a Sound Programmer. Yes, I believe that would be much quicker. However, I have mostly mSD decoders without the 21pin plate, so the decoder wires are all soldered and attached in the loco, so the Sound Programmer wouldn't work for me.

I am in the exact same situation. Yes programming is a little longer compared with a sound programmer but works without opening the loco, wiring changes, decoder handling. Speed is even a little faster (35 to 40 minutes).

Feature: Electric locomotive rear derailleur now available in three different variations
Feature: The volumes of the two channels of the driving noise can now be set individually
Feature: Electric locomotives now have more gear steps in the lower speed range

Improvement: The volume is now linear to the set value (previously logarithmic), the volume may have to be reset after an update
Bugfix: An error in the load-dependent sound has been fixed
Bugfix: An error in the DCC mapping has been fixed
Bugfix: A sound that was switched off in buffer mode is no longer switched on accidentally
Bugfix: An error where locomotives with a connected buffer stopped restlessly has been fixed

Bugfix: Fluctuations in pitch and volume when a turbocharger runs out on diesel locomotives eliminated
Bugfix: Fixed bug that prevented starting after a stop in a braking section
Bugfix: Corrected an error where a sound could no longer be triggered
Bugfix: An error in the stopping behavior has been fixed
Bugfix: The programming recognition in Motorola mode has been improved

It would have been great if the mDT program could read locomotive CV through CS3.

Other desired function should be upload project files to SD card or USB stick and then update with CS3.

Hi all,

Just wanted to say thanks for this thread and the contributors here. I managed to update my CS2 and then use it to update a couple of M loks to 3.2.1.0 directly.

I hope to learn more, like getting it to work through the mDT etc. which might hopefully get me to a more recent release.

Note that these loks had 'built in' decoders, so technically I guess not the mSD3 decoder but similar I am sure.

In any case, happy to be making forward progress and to give my CS2 something to do! BigGrin

Cheers! Dave.

The same 3.2.2.2 is available for the 2 x 1 Gauge decoders as of an incremental 31May2021 CS2 update

Introduction to RailCom and "N"

comment: the documentation implies a capability for both mfx and RailCom which needs validation .

There also appears to be a "copy'n'paste" of the text for 346715 and 379408 (Nachrüstdecoder / Digital : MM, DCC, MFX , RailCom)
In the ChangeLog (but not the header definition, which does not supply HW implementation) both also state "mSD3 PluX22 decoder with RailCom"

I believe the decoders that are fitted to Trix locos have both Railcom and mfx. I haven't validated this as yet. The decoders fitted to Marklin locos seem to have the Railcom disabled.

I noticed that Märklin decoder projects saved according to the latest firmware, have some hidden railcom settings. (in msd3 and factory-fitted decoder projects, and not Plux22)
and when enabled, some railcom options appear in the mDecoderTool (same as in Plux22 projects). however, I have not tested to program it to a locomotive/decoder, as I don't have any rail com controller to test with.
However, I don't know if the decoders actually support it?, and if I have found all the settings required........

The standard mSD3 retrofit 21MTC decoder project with RailCom "enabled":

Ah, interesting. I don't have a Railcom controller either. Be interesting to see what the results are.

Anyone got an ECoS ???

3.3.1.0 / SpurN (09 Feb 2024) available via CS3 2.5.2(6) package update

Comment:
If is possible that the SpurN reference relates to a separate code family.
- 3.0.5.3 is the latest posted

The 245 signature does however tie them together
- 245/359215 -
- 245/341059 -
Version 3.0.5.3 (January 24, 2024)
Bugfix: Fixed a bug that caused CV235 to be ignored.
Bugfix: Fixed a small bug in the handling of the DCC programming timeout.
Bugfix: Fixed a bug that prevented conditions from being changed in mapping via CV35 and 261+3*n with n out of [0,79].

I have BR80 37046. Märklin sound library only has 37063 which has 16 functions vs. 12 on 37046. Both are mfx decoders but not mfx+. Can I use 37063 sound project to replace the factory sound project on 37046?

Do they both have msd/3 decoders? If not then no.

It sounds to me like the 37046 may have an earlier msd decoder. Only items with msd/3 decoders have the sound project published on the product page, but I don't know if any early msd/3 decoders have unpublished sound files.
