Just got a 7186 off ebay in excellent cosmetic condition w/wires and switch box. I see that the way it is supposed to work is when you press the red button the solenoid activates the motor and when you release the button the motor continues until it gets to the next stop. Problem?? When button is released everything stops. I fear that if I continue to hold down the button until the next stop I may fry the solenoid. Any suggestions? Thanks Ed

Hi Dmac

Welcome to the forum.

Your problem is the adjustment of the contact associated with the solenoid.
The solenoid activates a feeler bar which detects the next stop (notch) it is supposed to leave the contact closed (to keep the motor running) as long as a notch has not be found.
Here is my Märklin turntable 410 NG (technically identical to your 7186 except the cabin lighting. You may see the contacts just behind the motor on the top.

Once you remove the cabin (two screws) you have access to the contacts that you may adjust the contacts and test them with the little lever protruding at the bottom of the cabin.

Cheers

Jean
