Hi guys Cool

I'm going to buy 74491 engines.

A few years ago we had end of race problems with these engines.

If my memories are good, (I can no longer find my documentation with the moves) at the time, there were two solutions to solve the problem:

1- 1- cut something inside 74491 but I don't remember what and how to proceed

2- weld like this

I used the first solution but I don't remember the procedure and I can't find any documentation on it.

Anyway, I have three questions:

A- Is it still necessary to do the same operations in 2018 on the 74491 to avoid problems?

B - Would it be good to do one of these operations even if Marklin guarantees that we won't have any more end of race problems?

C- Could someone get me the documentation on the procedure for switching off the limit switches? (I liked that solution)

You will understand that personally as long as I don't have an answer to my questions I don't install the 74491. I had enough problems in his time or I decide that even in 2018 I will

perform an operation on the 74491

Thank you for your comments

Hello Thewolf,

Sorry I can not answer you three questions but......

When I bought the Marklin 74991 solenoids from Mike at Westend Trains he said to me that these are the newer ones and they should pose no problems. So far no problems! I have not made any modifications to then and will not.

Please note I made access holes in the plywood so that I can remove them from below, just incase!

I have sixty+ Marklin 74991 solenoids.

Regards,

Michel

Hi Michel and thank you Cool

That's exactly what Mike told me.

I solved the problem in my own way: all the old 74491s operated and functional will be transferred to the turnouts of the hidden station.

All the new ones will be intended for the turnouts of the visible part of the layout ( the top) and therefore, perfectly accessible for me in case...

Have a nice day

Thewolf
