Greetings all, first time poster. I was super excited to receive a trix 22265 from ebay yesterday but it turns out I spent the day troubleshooting it instead of playing with it.

I think this must be why it isn't working, right? Fried decoder? Is the motherboard still likely to be ok? It passes visual inspection. I'm tempted to drop in the decoder from my trix 22239 but I'm hesitant in case something else is at fault and burns that one out to. Would you risk it or just send it back to the seller?

Thanks in advance!
jb

Hi!

Do you have a bridge plug for an analogue test of the loco? This way you could test the motor without risking a decoder.

Thanks, I don’t have one. What is it? Would you mind leaving a link? I tried google but got well related stuff.

I tried the other decoder already though. Instant smoke with power. I’m kinda bummed.

In the good old days when Trix still sold analogue H0 locos, those locos had a dummy plug instead of the decoder.
AIUI those plugs are fairly universally, so a plug for 21MTC from one loco should also work with another loco.

Instant smoke? Bad sign.
Now investigate if the motor or motor output causes the smoke or if there is a short circuit with the lights or other functions.

Actually it was instant smoke with throttle so I suppose that narrows it down some. Interestingly I had the loco disassembled today and the motor still connected and out. It seemed to run great. It stayed cool as did the tender which I’d noticed earlier got warm to the touch. But upon reassembly instant failure. Something pinched by the shell and shorting? Or the drivetrain. But the gears seemed to turn easily by hand. I think the issue is in the motor electronics.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement dcc decoder for the trix 22239? The Maerklinshop.de shows part number 263662 but it's not available for online purchase. Any recommended alternative plug and play dcc decoders?

I am sure someone on this forum "Electronically Minded" can do some research on the blown component #C60-1542 & direct you where to get one. Fitting it is another matter.

Buy an ESU one. If it is asound one get it preloaded with appropriate sound file by the dealer.
