As the finance director of the Märklin Outsider Club, I feel very sad to announce that we unfortunately must raise the membership fee by 300% for the year 2006.
However, if you do a personal membership fee calculation correctly to see what the new fee is - we still think that our offering is affordable, at least for the die-hard Märklin fan.

Juhan! Please forward to all membership application and invoice for dues. I also feel that holding a convention (Messe) at your location would be great. I understand that airfare is included in the dues. We must each brownbag our own meals.

Adrian: What I meant there's possibly one very desolate, rotten car from the kids deep down in Juhan's basement. And instead of paying a fee at the local waste facility ... [}:)]

While beating a dead horse...
I got my very first Insider packet (with the Feb/March magazine) and coupons *yesterday*. And my credit card has STILL not been charged! OK, that was only a what, 4-month turnaround time from signup to delivery?!
Anyway, in case anyone wanted to know, AnyDVD gives the following report on the Marklin DVD - may answer why it won't play on some laptops or older set-tops.
Media is a Data DVD.
Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 1
Total size: 2040048 sectors (3984 MBytes)
Video DVD (or CD) label: NH_MRKLIN_06
Media is not CSS protected.
Video Standard: PAL
Media is region free.
RCE protection not found.
DVD structure appears to be correct.
Structural copy protection not found.
Autorun not found on Video DVD.
Bad sector protection not found.
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!
Some older laptops' DVD software was Region-locked and incapable of playing anything other than the defined region/format; ie., region-free won't work, or PAL... needs NTSC/Region1.
Old Marklin: tough enough to take 3 generations of enthusiastic play.
