I saw this auction come up in the collectors weekly email....

The email shows that it had reached 15 bids and was at US $3050.00 when it ended because "the item is no longer available". I guess that means the seller did a private deal with someone, or they decided not to sell by auction for whatever reason.

Sure looks a nice set, and if it's a forgery it's very high quality. Availability circa 1937/38.

Part of me when things bid up that high that suddenly become "unavailable" is whether someone is merely testing the market so to speak.

Unless someone made them an offer they couldn't resist....
