This is a non-unusual condition - there is a whole thread on it on the Stummi forum.
It appears though, that it is solvable -though the exact cause isn't clear. It could be an air bubble in the water feeding tube from the reservoir to the Piezo vaporizer.

Some solutions suggested include methods to release air bubbles such as blow through the reservoir, or shake out the tank firmly. One person indicated so long as they keep water in the tank, it seems to work well. At this point its not clear what is a foolproof way of keeping the vaporizer fed with water from the tank.

The problem is likely that the water in the tank cannot make it up the tiny capillary onto the Piezo vaporizer.

Hi Minok.
Thank you for your response.
I have tried to remedy the problem by means of the blow through mentioned on posts and your response.
I adhered to all the instructions as per the Marklin booklet provided with the loco.
Maybe it will be best to send a mail to Marklin service.
Postage from South Africa is horrendous, not only the charges, it is not a very reliable service as well.
Should I obtain a workable solution I will do another post.

Glad the solution worked. How odd (and funny) is it that a maintenance task for some locos is literally a blow job. ;-)
