That's what is wrong with the smokers in Marklin locos - the smoke is white/clear, but it should be grey..

I don't have any that can smoke but isn't the colour determined by the fluid ? That is: Can't you get different fluids for different smoke?

I suppose the dark colour of the smoke on real steamers comes from suspended particles of soot, ash, and other gunk which eventually settle out on the surroundings. That might be a realistic step too far for most model layouts.Blink
