I recently acquired a Marklin 37038 OBB passenger locomotive. I believe the motor has seized. This is a can motor and I am unable to find the original motor.
Marklin does not manufacture the motor and has no spare motor available in stock.
Appreciate any help in finding a replacement or substitute motor for the 37038.

Have you tried applying DC voltage direct to the motor terminals without the decoder, to confirm the motor is at fault and not the decoder?

You might try SB-Modellbau, they may have a suitable kit for your model..

Hope this helps

Hi Navemp

Just a thought: the motor is in the boiler and the gear mechanism may be stuck if the boiler housing is incorrectly assembled to the chassis.
Have you tried the remove the boiler to verify the motor is seized?
The loco was produced in 2007, and the motor is not supposed to be lubricated so the risk of seizure is quite small (IMO, sorry).
Cheers

Good Morning Folks,
Thank you for all the suggestions. It is my intention to try all of the above suggestions. I have contacted SB-Modellbau They are closed today (Friday May 11) but will open on Monday 14 and hopefully I would have a response regarding a spare motor.
I will check only the motor by applying DC current directly to the two terminal.
From what it Looks like, someone tried to turn it using pliers on the flywheel.
Will keep you posted on the progress in the coming days.

Cheers

Mevan

After trying all the options I had to ship the Marklin 37038 to Goppingen for the repairs
