Question Trying to identify black locomotive with "60"

Hi all,

I am new to Z-Scale, having just inherited a whole setup from my Uncle. Most of the train components he has the original boxes for, but one locomotive seems out of place and a friend of mine said it looks like its an old one based on the roughness of the design....

Only identifying mark is the number "60" in white on either side, and of course "Marklin" on the gearbox.

Any ideas what model and year this is, or a reference that I could search? Attaching 2 images.

Hi Craig,

Welcome to the forum.

The model you show is based on a Märklin - chassis, but not completely made by Märklin. The chassis comes from a Märklin 8800 shunter, but someone has mounted an American style body which looks hand-made.

Yes, the body definitely seems handmade, lots of character... I wonder who would/could hand-make such a thing. Its definitely my favorite locomotive in the group... its super-fast, too.
