Hello.
I wonder what type of decoder is installed in above loco? And does it have any secret function I can use for ex. as flickering light on top.
Many thanks
Seb

From 29470 Starter set with old MS1 over ten years ago.

The loco was similar to 36850 but different class/running number. I think decoder was Fx decoder without dip switch but can change address etc with programme from 6021, CS2/3.

Exactly. I got the whole set.

Right as well. No dip switch on it and yes I can change address, speed etc. M website says "Digital decoder with additional, digitally controlled functions (f1, f2, f3 or f4) when operated with the 6021 Control Unit. The functions present depend on how the locomotive is equipped. Standard function active during conventional operation". It is just how do I access them on a decoder? Where can I solder?
Thx

These Hobby models (3685X, etc) have very basic decoders and special cables connecting the decoder and LED panels.
I do not think that there are any auxiliary functions available on this model.
If you wish to modify one of these models, you can upgrade to a more advanced decoder or add one of the aftermarket kits that add features to the model.

Regards

Thanks Mike
But I think I can reduce V max on it at least. I remember doing this otherwise my kids goes max speed available for the loco RollEyes and it derails off course. I will check tonight is there any more Fs available for it on MS2 at least?
My idea was to put 2 flickering LED's on a roof and make kind of fire loco out of it Wink as my boy broke both pantographs and now there are two holes in a roof as I had to take them off.
Thanks

It's a decoder of the 60760 type, so there is F1 and F3 besides F0.

Post #17 in this thread shows how to use F3:

Here's the picture with the F3 cable (brown/yellow):

You also see where the orange wire goes.

For F1 you also need a transistor to amplify the signal. Documentation can be found on the web, e.g. on the pages by HGH.
