Hi, another Marklin novice asking for help. I have been given the above set plus three additional coaches as a gift as I already model railways. Would just like to confirm that:-
1/ This item will only function on 3 rail track.
2/ This item comes DCC and sound fitted.
3/ This item runs on 16v ac.
4/ This item requires a special controller to activate sound functions.
Items are all boxed as new so don't what to go off half cocked and mess them up.
Any info would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

The link below should answer your questions about the model. 3 rail track is fundamental for all Maerklin locos. If you want to run this set digitally you will need a digital controller such as the MS2

1/ This item will only function on 3 rail track. YES
2/ This item comes DCC and sound fitted. It comes with mFx, which is digital but not pure DCC. Not sure if it will work on DCC.
3/ This item runs on 16v ac. YEs it will run on analog 16 V AC, bit won't be able to activate special functions.
4/ This item requires a special controller to activate sound functions. YES, page 9 of the manual at https://static.maerklin....bb1873fcb41434542638.pdf incdicates which controllers can control the various functions.

Thanks guys you have confirmed what I thought. I have quite a lot of analogue 2 rail stuff so regrettably rather than convert to this system may well Ebay it and buy one that is compatible with what I have.
Appreciate your replies, thank you.
