I am considering getting the Woodland Scenics incliners/risers sets to create my gradient. I am wondering what you put on top of the foam blocks?
Should you use plaster cloth before putting the M track down? Or are there other and better options?

Used these on a previous layout. I had C track on them and all I put on top was a grass mat. Plaster cloth is what they suggest but for me it was not required.
Sticking the grass mat (or similar) holds everything together then I just use some Copdydex to hold the track in postion.
Good product but expensive for what it is. Useful for curves.
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

Another option here is to glue 2+mm compressed cardboard (ones on the back of really good quality writing pads) on top of the foam so that you have something to screw the tracks into after you cover the whole thing with matting or plaster etc..

Depends on how you attach the track (M in your case) to the layout. Screws? Glue? Floating? You could glue on 2-4mm cork, or strips of thin plywood as well.
