Dear Friends,

I've just purchased boxes of Märklin Gleis 59058. I need to put them in my old layout with old Märklin Gleis, like, for example, 5935; 5922; 5976 and 5977. They don't seem connect to each other. Am I right or I'm doing something wrong? Can you help me, please?

Best regards
Stefano Rocca

Hi!

In other fora I read that you either have to shorten the rail joiners on the old track or buy new rail joiners from Märklin.

If it says Märklin on the outside then it sometimes is Hübner track on the inside.

In the old forum post the number 56091 was given - now sold out at the factory.

I don't know if the new 59095 will do any good.

Hi Stefano,

We now see the forth generation of connectors. The first series until the mid 1980s had simple connectors in the style of K-track connectors. Just an U-shaped piece of metal. It was replaced by the long connector in this shape: o_o . This one was replaced with a shorter version in the 1990s. Both, old and new length can be seen here: http://s1gf.de/index.php...=Thread&postID=58297 The long and the short connectors are not compatible. The old ones must be shortened or replaced.
Today Märklin delivers the forth generation. 59095 is the correct number. These were invented by HÜBNER and are now sold by Märklin. They are more durable and give a better contact than the older ones.

Regards

Markus

Hello Markus,
Thank you so much for your tipps. Knowing the whole story of the connectors is very usefull and for me the history of the Märklin factory as well the one of the prototype of our models is really the most exciting side of our hobby. Thanks so much again!
Have a nice day
Stefano
