Trying to download to a USB stick the latest CS2 update. All I get is 'Disc image file corrupted'
What am I doing wrong. Tried several times with same result. Download appears to be coming from Marklin cloud.

Maybe nothing.
What did you do? Would you post the filenames and sizes of the files you copied to the USB stick?
Which version does your CS2 currently have?

Märklin's site is currently offline - after having database problems for two days.

If your CS2 has version 3.5 or older, you may need another upgrade to bring it to version 3.6 or higher before installing the 4.2 version. The file format for upgrades was changed and old CS2 versions will probably not recognise current update files.
Maybe you have to get the cs2update.tgz file along with the new .IMG file.

Tom

My skills are not great with computers.

CS2 60213 version 3.27
Hardware 3.4
Software 4.1.2(3)

Just went with the download button on the Marklin site to USB stick.. Appears to be a burn to disc image which is corrupted.
download is IMG 135

Probably don't need anything further at present. My computer is not close to the CS2 hence always used USB which has worked in the past.

If I need some other file to load first ...where is this and under what name.

Sorry to be a bit vague but computers other than basic daily stuff are not my thing. Thanks for help.

Dave,

Everything looks correct as far as I can tell.

Your current version is 4.1.2 and there should be no problems upgrading to 4.2.

Thanks. Will give it another go although as said I don't really need the upgrade at present as will be looking for the new Cs3 shortly. Probably come back to you for advice on that when ready to purchase.

All best for 2018 and thanks for help.

Tried this update several times with different USB sticks but still the same message ..burn to disc image corrupted ...

I can only presume I am doing something wrong but no idea what. Followed the Marklin instructions and hit the download button. Have tried saving straight to USB and also to Documents then to USB but still the same result. While I may not need the update I am puzzled as to why for the first time it does not work.

Hi David
Sometimes a big download will corrupt if your internet speed drops suddenly the file then momentarily stops and restarts leaving a "gap" best advice is do not use internet for anything while downloading the file maybe turning off virus and malware checkers while dl'ing too helps as they can watch the dl and check for virii thus slowing and corrupting.

If there is an option to dl the img file to hdd NOT usb do that, then use a small program called img2disc or similar to "burn file to the usb, your usb stick may be a usb 2 type and not accepting the file fast enough try a usb 3 stick in a usb3 port.

Failing that get someone else with usb 3 equipment and usb 3 stick to try

The worry is; after HO mentioned Märklin's site is currently offline - after having database problems for two days

It may be a Märklin problem

Are you looking for a cs2 image? I'm planning on bringing one on a USB stick for Ian in February so we can update his cs2 to have 32 functions. If you come over to Ians place then we could update yours as well, the only problem being that they don't seem to have any update beyond 4.2.0 as a USB update.

Thanks guys. Internet speed is OK. Not sure what you mean by USB type three.

Alan thanks for offer. I cant drive too far these days otherwise I would be more than happy to visit Ian at anytime. However my CS2 is fine as it is and will probably change to a CS3 shortly.

Just surprised that this no longer works as it has in the past.

Thanks for your comments.

Hi David, if you were able to travel by train to Bathgate, I would be more than willing to pick you up and drop you back at the station. Alan.

Thanks Alan. It is not really that important as will shortly go for a CS3. I looked at the download for the CS3 which although I do not as yet have it worked fine so it is only the one for the CS2 that I cant get.

Many thanks for your offer which is most appreciated and I hope you have a good meeting.

On looking further it appears the Marklin Cloud is mentioned with the CS2 update but not with the CS3 which I can download.
As is obvious to all my computer skills are limited but hopefully when I go for the CS3 I will have improved lol.
