Hi all,
Here is a recent German-language production on the famous HO scale modeller.
I notice that much of his layout is Marklin 3 rail, but there is also a lot of 2 rail.

It is worth watching in my opinion.

Kimball
HO Scale - Märklin (ep II-III and VI, C Track, digital) - 2 rail HO (Queensland Australia, UK, USA) - 3 rail OO (English Hornby Dublo) - old clockwork O gauge - Live Steam 90mm (3.1/2 inch) gauge.

This layout is in the book about Brandl, "Almost Real". It might also be in the Traumanlagen (dream layouts) magazine series.

He'll build one for you if you'd like. I would, but don't think I could afford it.

Regards,
Roger

Joseph Brandl layouts show up all over the place. One is part of the Odenwald "Modelbauwelt" - which replicates the town of Dürnstein, Austria

Funnily enough at the 4:10 or so mark of your video the fellow talking about how long his layout took to build makes mention of one of the delays (the fellow from the Wachau that called and wanted a layout built).. that delayed the construction of this layout for the Bavarian customer in black glasses. :-) Funny how it all ties together

There is one thing i don´t understand when Josef put ballast on the tracks.
He use water glue but doesn´t this way start rust on the stud contacts?

It's possible, but maybe he uses a hair dryer to speed dry it to keep the possibility to a minimum. He may also apply a light film of a rust retarder to the studs. He could also mix in some alcohol with the water to speed its evaporation. Of course with his abilities, he may have a secret technique unbeknownst to use mere mortals.

I’m not there yet in my project, but would you have a proposal of non-water glue, for this purpose? Confused

Solvent based glues would probably be worse. They can melt plastic and generate fumes. I don't know of any catalytic (2 part) adhesives that are thin enough to soak into the ballast. Both solvent and 2 part adhesives are generally permanent. Once ballasted it would be very difficult to modify or re-use the track.

Roger

I use water based glue for ballasting my M-tracks. No problem with rust whatsoever. The glue dries well before any rust would form.

Best regards,
Gregor
