This controller drives my 2 locos i.e. a one-motor Marklin BR80 tank loco and a dual-motor LGB diesel V1002027, #20121. The controller's speed-bar consists of 14 blocks, which go black in proportion to the controller's speed setting. This works fine, but the diesel makes the bar blinking when the speed setting is more than 4 or 5 blocks. This raises my question: does that blinking indicate some warning?
I took various power consumption readings of the supply to the controller and found that with both locos running at gradually increasing speed settings beyond 1/2 way, when the consumption eventually reaches 50 Watts, the controller switches itself off. Is that its factory set limit? Is it adjustable?

I believe from a message to the Moderators from Dusan, that you have a Marklin Mobile Station 1.

There were two versions of that controller, one had a maximum output current of 1.2 amps, the other a maximum current output of 1.9 amps. It may well be that you have hit the limit of available current.

From https://www.marklin-user...obile-Station---1-2-1-9A

The 1.9 amps output current versions have the number on the base of the controller 60651.
The 1.2 amps output current versions have the number on the base of the controller 60652.

AIUI this blinking indicates that the controller no longer receives mfx feedback from the loco. No real problem.
mfx feedback and rolling wheels do not work well together.

Just received an email from Ferdi thanking me in leading him to your reply David. In the email he also stated that he was having problems with registering his new acquisition - 55332 and admitted that his knowledge on how to use the internet and in particular the forum is also limited and therefore decided to explain the registering problem to me.

My knowledge of gauge 1 locos and how they register on a MS1 can be written in capital letters on the back of a postage stampBigGrin BigGrin . I also found out that his new loco has mfx (you learn something new everydayBigGrin ThumpUp )

So I would gather that the 55332 (with mfx) should register automatically, just like a HO mfx loco, correct?

Well, his isn't!

Not having used a MS1 for a very long time, can you connect the MS1 to a program track and then try to register the loco?

Or, do you make sure there are no other locos on the track when you try registration?

Any help to get Ferdi's loco registered would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
Dusan V

This woun't help Ferdi get his engine going but i might be of interest.

A couple of months ago I did some testing concerning power consumption on my gauge 1 layout.
I can use a CS1 Realoded with the ESU power adaptor or a CS2 60215 with a 60101 power supply.

The Köf I have is an older version, 55742 (fx). It needed 0.027 A when just placed on the rails according to CS1R and 0,016 A with the CS2. Running with sound 0.66 A at 15,9 V/0.36 A at 18.5V.

My mfx railbus, 55098, needed 0.116 A/0.082 A on the rails. Running with sound 1.9 A at 15.7 V / 1.1 A at 18.4 V. If I remember correctly the power requirement was a bit higher when the controllers were turned on (mfx chatter? I don't think there are any capasitors needing power).

Running was 30 of 126 speed steps – rather slow.

My experience is that the programming track don't have enough power to program gauge 1 engines. Place the engine as the only thing on the rails and where the feeder wires are. I don't know anything about MS1 (or MS2).
