After riding the Regio from Esslingen to Goppingen for three days during the Treff, I decided to add that to my collection. What I want is a red Br 146 with metal body and sound. The closest I could find is the Brawa 43921. I want to couple that with M 43570 and 43571 with LED lights. That will be very close to the train I rode. I'm 100% Maerklin so this is new territory for me. BTW, I have M-track and MS2. Will I be able to exercise all the functions in the Brawa BR 146? Any suggestion and comment are greatly appreciated.
Thanks, T

I can't comment on the Brawa model but you might be able to find a dealer with Marklin 37465 which was produced in 2015-2016. It has the metal body and a good amount of sound effects you're looking for. I just checked a few North American dealer websites and it appears AJCKids has it in stock: http://www.ajckids.com/trains/d...r=Marklin&item=37465 |

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time. |

The 37465 is an AC version of the Trix BR 146. I have several of the similar 37446 (SBB Re 482) which I have used as chassis for the swapped out frames from my 22631 (SBB Re 482) and 22636 (Crossrail BR 185) models by Trix. The models have a metal chassis, but have a nicely detailed plastic shell. I would not worry about this, as the model is much nicer than the metal Hobby model from Maerklin. As far as I know, the Hobby model is the only model of the Bombardier Traxx with metal shell, the Trix, Roco, Fleischmann, ACME and Brawa models all have plastic shells. As you are based in Seattle, I would recommend that you check with Mr Menzel at Eurorailhobbies in BC. I am sure that he can get the locomotive for you and is relatively close in case of difficulty. If you absolutely want the Hobby (Metal shell version), look for 36835: https://www.maerklin.de/...te/details/article/36835My recommendation would still be the 37465 with it's higher detail and sound and light features. Actually there are three prototype classes, known as BR 146.0, BR 146.1, and BR 146.2. The MäTrix plastic model is BR 146.2. The MäTrix metal hobby models are available for BR 146.1 and BR 146.2. They used the mould of the BR 146.1 for "models" labelled as BR 146.0.
I think it is BR 146.2 that is used in the Göppingen area. But I don't know how much you care about details. |

Thank you for all the comments and suggestions. At first I was looking at the 37465+43570+43571 combo. But 37465 has plastic shell and I prefer metal shell and sound. That led me to the Brawa model. As Mike C has suggested, 37465 has a rather detail shell so I'm reconsidering that.

The metal body was a reason to mention the follower of the BR 146, the BR 187, which has a full metal body and chassis. For more information about the 146 and 187 read here please: http://www.railcolor.net...p?nav=1405014&lang=1http://www.railcolor.net...2391&action=portraithere (unfortunately in German) a PDF-File about the BR 187, but it includes very interesting graphics pictures about the loco's interior. www.schienenfahrzeugtagu...ad/PDF2011/5-Altmann.pdfOk, the 187 was not the type of loco moving you to and fro in Goeppingen, but perhaps it may be also of interest for you. Because it is the next generation and an European loco too. http://www.lte-group.eu/en/Locomotives.htm
