Despite of their financial situation,Roco have announced on their website the autumn 2017 items.
They show the frontpage of the brochure but no contents shown as yet.

Following is a slideshow,if you point at the most left dot it shows the autumn 2017 brochure:

Same for Fleischmann:

I really like the Roco 73254 Re 4/4II locomotive advertised in the fall new items catalog. The Gotthard Panorama coaches look nice as well.

Liking the "Steam locomotive 012 080, DB", which is a good enough for me duplicate of the "01 1102" museum lok that stood in Bebra for the decades, in the oil steamer configuration it had all that time.. that I'll be looking to pick it up for my collection. All I need to do then is make some renumbering plates to "01 1102" and stick them on and I'm golden.

And now that I did a bit of research to enlighten myself I know its the right one since the 01 1102 I'm wanting to model was designated that up to 1968 when the renumbering came along and being an oil tender, it was renumbered to 012 102-0, which it kept till 1974 when it became the museum loco and was put on the plinth in Bebra and was given its original 01 1102 designation again.

So the 012 080 is the right locomotive for me, I just need to make some (4) number plates to say 01 1102 when it gets here, to cover the 012 080 numbers.

I see Roco are offering the 'Good Luck' F-Train with BR01.

At first it was hard to tell from the pictures whether the BR01 is epoche 3a or 3b. The locomotive on page 3 is different to what is shown in the set on page 2.
It does appear to have the 3rd light in either case, so that indicates epoche 3b.
Still no one offers a BR01 from epoche 3a with witte deflectors.

If I didn't have the Marklin BR39 I would pounce at the Fleischmann. The matching express green coaches look great though and different to the Pike cars.

The Glück Auf term is more than just good luck, but specific to luck in unearthing their target (ore or minerals) by miners going into mines.

I read on previous posts that Roco items are made of plastic, rather than metal. Is that always the case? I like their new Re 4/4 locos but I don't know if I would be happy with it being plastic, especially after owning metal Marklin locos.

David,

I have a few Hag Re 4/4IIs, most of the Maerklin and Trix models (AC versions) and almost all of the Roco models with either a single pantograph or the second series with two pantographs.

There may be some advantages to having a metal body, but what you lose in ruggedness, you gain in terms of details in the plastic models.

For example, the Hag and Maerklin/Trix models have the numbers and lettering stamp printed on the body, while the Roco models have raised lettering. The Roco models have much more detailed pantographs, wipers, louvres and other details that are far better than anything on any of the metal models.
The Maerklin and Hag TEE models have the Swiss crest falsely situated between the red and beige sections of the lok body. The Roco model has the crest raised a few mm so that it sits entirely in the beige part of the body. IMHO Roco also has the best reproduction of the air conditioning panels on the modern versions.

If you like Re 4/4s, it should not be a question of metal vs plastic, but of whether you want the model or not.
Try one. If you like it, you will get more. If not, your next one will be another metal one instead.

Regards

Mike C
