Today i was travelling by public transport around Rotterdam.
Whilst crossing the A15 motorway by electric tram i saw a lonely E189 206 Vincent van Gogh on the socalled Betuwe line from Rotterdam Europoort to Germany, the first time i ever saw the loco in the wild, wow!
Is this another must have?

The Marklin number was in the header of my topic.

Totally pricy. It says "Märklin" on the prototype, so unfortunately, paying that price is the only way to get it.

It is some Euro 100.- cheaper than the 39205 BR 01.5 on the wishlist, but the latter is still very much desired.

The E189 van Gogh has extensive sound functions.
That is fine with me but i do not need those really.
Sometimes i feel we are paying way too much for some sound.
In toyshops they sell tinplate locomotives with steamsound which at times sound rather convincing.
Also changing the on/off settings of frontlights is of no interest to me,i come from the analog era where something was either on or off.

Strangely enough Marklin are selling Vectron models with full sound functions at some Euro 220.-,see 36192 and 36193 for example.
The higher price for the Van Gogh model must be due to a smaller series production i guess.
