A new colleague of mine became aware of my Marklin addiction and in his turn appeared to be a collector of Lego trains.
I used to have some basic Lego 50 years ago and lost track of developments.
It appears that Lego are very active, also in the field of locomotives and the alike.
As a matter of fact rather amazing products have been issued.

i found a DRG steamer series 53:

Also a Union Pacific Big Boy:

And much more, for example a Rio Grande Diesel:

Lego has become rather expensive but still great fun to build,if you have the room that is.

Other interesting stuff is the architecture series with famous buildings:

Hi,
I had a rather large stint of interest in lego, and I collected a fair bit, but as you said, it's quite expensive.
Also, there was a lego set released a while back that held great similarities to the orange TGV's.
Here's the link
Lego Horizon Express

Additionally, a lot of Lego's original train sets were modelled after German counterparts, and even some of their more current sets hold a resemblance to the S-bahn passenger cars.
The link to the Lego website for it: Lego Trains
Thanks,
Matthew

Matthew, the Lego architecture series seems to be tailormade for you, looking at your userprofile.

And remember: "The only difference between men and boys is the value of their toys".

Cheers,

Paul.
