Much of this Australian collection was gifted to the Queensland Museum (The Rail Workshops Museum annexe in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia) and is currently in process of being catalogued and photographed.
A huge undertaking.

I was at the Queensland Museum for a function last night and there is now a small display with some of these models just around the corner from the museum shop. Here are some (sorry about the quality) photos. In the display case was a Marklin 1 gauge Adler set from 1985 and a very nice NSW Garrett..

The video, shown by John in the first post, was playing in a window to the right of the display case.

It might be time for a road trip to Ipswich to see more of this awesome collection. Laugh

Guys,

The collection is on show at the Ipswich Railway Workshops (Workshops Rail Museum) now and until 29 July 2018. Dominator (Dereck) and I are off tomorrow to see it, and I will post some pictures after we return. Smile

I wonder what happened to the layout , totally dismantled ,some parts recovered for a future layout or all removed to another large building & in the future reopen to the public ?

We went to Ipswich to view the T-house collection that was created by Marsden Williams. Sadly, the only items on display were the same ones that were at the Queensland Museum during the Gladiator exhibition. In fact, it was the same display, but is now housed where the Workshops' shop used to be located. As you can see below.

On interesting thing that we found after doing the workshop tour is this. The Crocodile on the left is 1:32 scale. The loco behind it is over 2m long!

More detail on the BR41. There is no indication as to the origin of this loco and it may not be part of the T-house collection.

If you have never been to the Railway workshops museum, then it is a worthwhile experience and the T-house display is a bonus. However, if you have been there in the last five years or so, then it is not worth going to see the T-House collection -> yet..

One more treat. A specially made Garrett model from the T-house collection. The reference card states, "Class AD60, Bayer Garrett New South Wales Railways. Gauge 1 1:30 scale. Mr Williams had several models of the New South Wales Railways AD60 Class Beyer-Garratt built especially for his private collection."

Update: The T-house was sold. See https://www.illawarramercury.com.au/story/2349838/mount-pleasant-home-sells-for-record-25m-photos/ There is no mention of the fate of the layout.

More information about the layout - seems that Hobbyrama was a big player here? http://www.hobbyrama.com.au/50/%252525252525E2%25252525252580%2525252525259CNow-It-Can-Be-Told%252525252525E2%25252525252580%2525252525259D/

Thanks Adrian for the information on the collection, it is really useful to keep up to date on that.

I was not aware of Craig Woodhead's involvement.
Even though I go to his hobby shop (Hobbyrama) occasionally, I never met the man himself.
