Hello, Everyone:

This is the mystery loco I used along with the 3000 to test the cleaning of the tracks.

I wonder if anyone can tell me the catalogue no. and when it was introduced and removed from sale.

It is possible it only came with a starter set. I think that is how I got it at one point.

Thank you. BigGrin

Silvano,

That's a 3090 KLVM, which was introduced in 1972 and removed from the catalog in 1988. The green version 3087 still survives today in the startup range, although it now has a different motor and a decoder.

Yours should be a version 3 (made from 1972-73), since it has clips securing the coupling rods, no lettering, and red cylinders.

regards
Peter

Hi Silvano, this loco also appeared in the Primex range, as the 3197. I have one that my son found abandoned in the school Physics lab. It had been used for an experiment and was discarded because it didn't work any more. I soon had it running again and it's now part of my collection.

This is an old version (I changed the stator)

And this is the latest digital performance from start sets

They could light at least the lights in white!

The old performance is more enjoyable because it is a simple fix or change

I have a good selection of the Primex locos, as well as some of the coaches and wagons.

Without any inscription it is most likely a loco from a starter set.

Or a Primex loco.

I have starter set and Primex version of the loco that was 3029 in the catalogue - the Primex is all red with no paint on the plastic body, the starter set locos are all red with silver paint at the lamps. The real 3029 was red and black.

Well, mine came with three painted silver fake lights at the front and back. I think it came in a nice box - but purchased separately later on.

Things have become a bit confused here and we are now referring to two different models.

3029

3090

There are different variants of both these loco types depending on whether they were Marklin or Primex and also whether they were from a starter set or sold separately.

I find this a good source for different model variants:

Thank you for the link to that website, Ray. BigGrin

I had to use another browser to have it translated (Chromium). ThumpUp

BUT, the translator did not apparently recognize this word: "reinzuschauen". What does it mean? Come back again?

My loco is definitely a 3090, cute as a bug and now used as a paperweight on my PC.

By the way that website is also a good reference for Primex models. They are listed in the main lists but there is also a separate section at the bottom of the main page just for the Primex models

It would be great if someone were to take on the task of updating these lists with the 5 digit wagons and coaches!
