i think I have asked about this before but would appreciate a bit more advice here.

I have been commended to clean the plastic on this loco with a special kind of blasting abrasive to assist the paint to stick. Sounds really tricky. I was hoping there might be an etching paint I could apply as an undercoat or something. the cost of doing this job professionally is 1-1/2 timesOhMyGod the value of the locoBlink , so now I am stuck.Unsure

Has anyone had experience with this.

Hi Dereck,

I used this paint as a primer on a 3065 (V60) which has the same problem and material then the 3053: https://www.revell.de/en...ccessories/id/39804.html . It is intended for plastic-kits and works perfectly.

Regards

Markus

Ah Ha! And to think I thought I was the only person who had the flaking paint problem with 3053.

Marcus, thank you for that. I will be getting a lot of practices with the 15 or so ME109's I will be doing when I get the paint for them

Michael, there are a bloody lot of them around and every time I see one for sale I am reminded of mine, and think they are all the same [ which they may not be ]. It has the single row of ventilators.

All the best

Dereck, I'm learning. I also have a 3039 with the central window stove in (see other thread). Inevitably caused by it being exactly where your fingers go when you pick it up!

I don't think I have anything immaculate, the modern marketing term is 'playworn'...I'd rather say bashed about.

I was 7 when i first got my Marklin, and we used to race the locos round the track, sometimes collisions occurred. My originals are well used but they have stood up to the slight amount of punishment they used to get. At 17 though, I was a lot more careful, and that's when I started buy new locos like the 3053, 3021 and 3098 etc. Croc's didnt come till I was 49.
