I notice that MTH do still make HO scale products but do they still make US prototypes that can run on Marklin 3-rail?

I haven't seen any new e3+ items for 2017.

Unfortunately they no longer do. I was a big fan of their US 3 rail AC models, still am. MTH says (something we already know) that 3 rail AC is too small of a niche in the US. Interestingly, MTH is making excellent German S3/6 Steamers in HO AC. I wish MTH (and others) would adopt ESU model of making AC/DCC models all in one.

That plainly sucks. Their US based engines are awesome and sadly M doesn't produce such models.

Means that they have rather narrow business mindset, not thinking globally regarding sales... Mellow ThumbDown

I have been a Marklin fan for over 30 years; but since 2/3 years I have bought several MTH diesel and steam locomotives, and I am fascinated with them. What I like most are the sounds and the smoke effect on steam locomotives.

I bought in Germany, directly in USA and also in the link that I put you below:

I was eagerly waiting for the Allegheny, even willing to pay for it in advance. IF they decide to release newer M-compatible items, I'd like to see newer US based models, just as they did with the SD70ACe or the GEVO.

Perhaps, however I highly doubt M would release
recent US based machines as M doesn't care about newer US models.

They made US based models back in the 50s and 60s because of the US soldiers in Germany.

Last I saw on the official MTH website, the 3 rail version of the Yellowstone and Allegheny were cancelled.
I have heard this as well from the gentleman I have bought my MTH 3rail Challengers and Big Boys from.
Otherwise I would have a pair, especially the DM&IR Yellowstone.

I have seen the above referenced Ebay seller's auctions numerous times.

What concerns me(as a buyer) is this:

-All of the photos shown are stock, MTH photos. They are not specific to the engines claiming to be sold.
-The seller has low feedback(compared to most on Ebay) with negative feedback.
-The prices are pretty ridiculous. Some of them are above what MTH lists as MSRP.

Lots of yellow flags to be sure.

That said....

It is always possible that MTH produced them for the Euro marketplace only because they were not selling well stateside(I doubt that). I would have thought our Euro brethren would have said something about them before now if that was the case....

Just food for thought

I respect your comments. We can all say our way.
I can only say that I have several Diesel locomotives and MTH steam for 3 rails (Marklin System); all of them have not given me 100% satisfaction, but I have been able to solve the problems presented.
In the link I posted earlier, I bought the Allegheny and Yellowstone for 3 rails and I have been very satisfied. I also bought the russian iron Triplex for 3 rails and their behavior has been discreet.

Can you post pictures of the Alleghenies and Yellowstone?

Would love to see how they turned out and might need to start saving pennies

I could do some photos of my locomotives if they like people; but I do not sell those locomotives; my interest has been only to contribute to the information that was requested in this forum about the locomotives 3 rail MTH .

Now you're really making me want to save for it!

That engine is so darn expensive though!
Over $800 USD is no joke.

What radius curves are you running it on? R3?

The human being has always liked toys, and at our age these are the ones we can afford.
Money is but a means to happiness.
I have Marklin R2 curves and some R3. These locomotives work perfectly in both curves. The only problem I encounter is, from time to time, in some deviation.

Hi all,
I get my MTH AC loco's from Eurorailhobbies both US and Euromodels.
They have just moved the business and are in the process of bringing out a new catalog of the new US and Europe models.
Enjoy

Just go online and contact them.
I've been dealing with them for a long time including a problem with one MTH loco and it was solved straight away.

I was most upset when MTH cancelled the 3 rail Allegheny. Within 6 months to year after the 2 rail Allegheny became available, someone had converted it too 3 rail. I think I saw the same one as you, on eBay. The price was about $800 USD. Sorry but is way above my threshold of pain. I applaud you sir for having the deep pockets. I did buy the MTH 3 rail Challenger when it came out. Yes, it is a beautiful engine. Sure wish they would have made the Allegheny at the stated price in the catalog.

I just visited the website I mentioned at the beginning, and I see that it has the Allegheny at € 765 and it seems that you can make an offer. Also to the Yellowstone can be made offer, although that is a little more expensive.
It makes me angry to think that I paid them full price. This guy probably has more than one, and he wants to get them out.
Maybe I get an interesting price, and I buy another to do a double traction, ha.. ha.. ha.
Are they so spectacular!

The MTH H0 2017-18 catalog is now online. https://mthtrains.com/si...s/2017_ho_v_1/index.html Unfortunately no new 3-rail items.

They still have the 4 versions of the Bavarian S3/6 / BR 18.4 in the catalog and in stock.

The 80-3244-5 2-8-0 H10 Long Island is still in the catalog but cancelled in the database. Editing error?

MTH still have one of the Triplexes, 80-3194-5, in stock – but only one.
OneGauge Marklin and MTH, ESU ECoS 2.1 on LGB tracks. MTH 3-rail 0-gauge, DCS on GarGraves tracks. Z: Rokuhan tracks, analog or DCC+TC Gold.

It seems that MTH has stopped manufacturing locomotives on 3 rails.
It's a pity.

Some dealers in Germany still seem to sell the stuff

for example: http://www.rd-hobby.de/Catalog/List/1830

Looks like they have a 3 week lead time for stuff they haven't in stock.

Let us not make false illusions. This distributor in Germany only has the gray Challenger. The delivery in three weeks for what is not in stock is a chimera. MTH has very few locomotives 3 rails in stock.
Of course there are always some MTH locomotives on the internet. It is a matter of searching.
