Hi Folks, getting back into the hobby after long years of absence. Decided to get going with Marklin 29000 starter set and digital loco. After I plug in everything as instructed, nothing happens. Power pack does not get warm, no sign of life in Mobile Station. All connected and digital loco on track. Am I missing anything? There is no switch on Mobile Station. Should it power on just by being plugged in?

Hi Mark, I just purchased the same Digital set and didn't have any trouble with it. Did you purchase your set from a dealer in the U.S.? The set as sold from Marklin comes with a 220/230 volt power pack which needs to be replaced with a 110/120 power pack to work properly in the U.S. The mobile station itself is powered up from the power pack itself through the supplied track box. The power to the track is supplied by pressing the "stop" button on the mobile station and power is supplied to the track through the track box.

If you are getting power to the mobile station the "stop" button should be red and turn green once it is pressed. Also the mobile station's screen should read "Marklin". If the mobile station does not come to life after plugging in the power supply and you have plugged in the power supply and mobile station correctly through the track box then I would first check to see that you are receiving power to the power pack. If power to the pack is available, then check to see if you are getting power from the power pack to the track box. If the track box is receiving power and the mobile station does not come to life, check the connection between it and the mobile station for correct alignment of the plug from the mobile station to the track box. I have had issues with the track box before.

If all your connections are correct and you have a U.S. power pack, you may just have to return the set to your supplier with an explanation of what your are experiencing and hopefully you will get a replacement set or part sent quickly in return. Hope this explanation helps. Good luck, Sandy
