Best place in Germany to purchase in Person - advice please

They will likely be there. If you're mobile, I'd check ETS in Waiblingen.

Well, if Aussipeet is visiting the Marklin Days, by definition that means he will be in Göppingen. That means that dealers such as ETS in Waiblingen and Stuttgart should be accessible, as well as the Marklin Shop in Göppingen and any other dealers nearby.

The Marklin shop was fine but of course is very limited to ...Marklin!! Either way it sounds like a great trip and if you are going to Hamburg then of course a visit to Minituarwunderland!! I was in Germany almost all of December and travelled down from Hamburg to Goppingen, via Rhine, Stuttgart. A very nice early Xmas present as the wife put it Enjoy!!

Goppingen, 3.Hamburg and finally Frankfurt. it seems like there are so many in and around these areas it is hard to know where to go for what i want to purchase. Have heard that items at the marklin shop are not really cheaper then some of the dealers offer so that is why i am asking. Hope some one can send me a list of shops to choose from. Many thanks Peter ANd yes i look forward to eating the food and having a bloody good time.

In shops, you have to pay the VAT and getting a refund at the airport can be a difficult process that requires time. I would recommend that you make any major purchases online and have it shipped to you. That way, you get the VAT refund and hopefully the parcel will get delivered without any local taxes. What I would recommend is to visit shops at places you visit, not for the big buy, but keeping an eye out for Exclusive models, out of production items and other items that you will not be able to find or would be very hard to find overseas. Most shops will have some kind of goodie that you had never considered before you entered the place. Enjoy the moment and grab those items. They will also serve as souvenirs of your trip. Regards Mike C Absolutely agreed! That is what i do, and did, as said, queues for VAT refund in the airport are huge!
		German trains era I-II and selected III, era depends on the mood, mostly Maerklin but i can be heretic if needed XD, heresy is no longer an issue.. LOL

You can very often even get a chance to see them running on a test track before you buy. On the odd occasion when I visit a place that has a nice Marklin shop I will always buy something, even if it costs me a bit more than it would online.
		Ray Mostly Marklin.Selection of different eras and European railways Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

Regards Mike C This is where going to ETS will work well, you fill your shopping cart, and they will pack and ship it for you, taking off the MWsT (VAT, GST, whatever your country calls it) as they go. You may be able to get other shops that do business on the web to do this as well. Most of them will quote MwsT free prices (Lokshop certainly do).
