Today Thursday 27th April 2017 our King Willem Alexander celebrates his 50th birthday.
As such, together with Queen Maxima he will travel by royal train to the city of Tilburg (spelling correct).
Please see Marklin 4362,nice coach in socalled Royal Blue with the Royal Crown on the sides.
As is common overhere,it will be a day full of public festivities with the King and Queen mixing with the crowds.
More pictures are to follow.

And to tell you a little secret:most Dutch men, including me, are in love with Maxima!

Perhaps Marklin should give him a 50th birthday steamer?

The King and Queen have various interesting dwellings!

How did you end up in his waiting room?

A typical Dutch Royal Train is made up of three similar coaches described above and an electric loco series 186 at both ends.

A meeting in Utrecht for European railway organisations, kindly hosted by the NS and ProRail. The waiting room is more of a... complete private station building, and we were informed that these kind of tours are pretty rare Smile I was also impressed by the railway infrastructure as such, with four track lines between all major cities etc. ThumpUp

Two locos for just three coaches?
Are you sure this is enough power to climb on the very *steep* and *long* ramps on the NS network?RollEyes

Of course, our Royal Couple should not experience the same sort of trouble normal peasants experience from day to day.
As such, attempts are made to prevent any possible mishap on this important day.
The Royal train is test driven well in advance, you never know whether you find any camels on the track, right?
The loco in the back is just a spare, having the pantographs down, the train should not get stuck in the middle of nowhere.
I only now noticed that only the middle coach is having the Royal Crown on the sides, the other two do not have the crown but still the Royal Blue color.
The interior of the coaches is not the standard Intercity interior,it has lounge areas, washrooms and beds.

Arrival and departure from Tilburg on 27th April as from 2:00 in following clip:

All members of the royal family stay in the middle coach; the other two are for not-royal people of the court , security etc. And: in case of a collission the middle coach is the most safe..
But i agree: it is great the royals are travelling by train.

I only notice now that only the middle coach has sideskirts, the other two are like standard intercity coaches,no skirts.

I'm not sure William Wallace had anything against the Dutch royal family. I think his main interest was with Scottish independence.

He did, however, have a strong Australian accent, so maybe that's why he's popular with our Antipodean friends! Oh wait a minute, that was Mel Gibson, sorry! BigGrin

I should point out that the Australian accent was derived from Irish, English, Welsh and Scottish peoples being bundled into small wooden ships for three months.. Hey pretso, out comes Australian.. LOL Then something gets broken when they head slightly more East.. RollEyes

No worries about accents i would say.
They are everywhere.
In Holland there are dozens of accents which tell where people live if you listen carefully.
Rotterdam and Amsterdam both have very distinctive accents and are only some 70 km apart!
South of the big rivers as we call it (Tilburg for example) people speak with a soft G,whereas north we speak with a hard letter G.
Our Queen speaks with a slight Argentinian accent but has mastered our language rather well.

This character Tineke Schouten comes from Utrecht in the middle of the country,a place where you would expect that flawless Dutch would be the rule, nope:
